A human being is an island of excellence.
Pandajit Rajmani Tigunat, The Secret Of The Yogasutra.
Take a breath and let that idea sink in deep…
We are divine creatures; we are AND ARE NOT our thoughts.
If we are & ARE NOT our thoughts, then what we think and manifest becomes our external reality.
Nothing exists in isolation.
We are both creators and created.

A HISTORY OF BREATH
The Himalayan Tradition is a 5,000-year-old lineage of yoga and tantric wisdom preserved through an unbroken succession of enlightened masters. Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, PhD, serves as its spiritual head and successor to Sri Swami Rama, bringing this ancient knowledge to the contemporary world through the Himalayan Institute.
“I have upheld the central precept of the tradition: Yoga is an experiential path, and experience comes from practice. I have treated each sutra as a step toward achieving our ultimate goal, inner fulfilment and freedom.”
― Pandajit Rajmani Tigunat, The Secret Of The Yogasutra
CORE PHILOSOPHY
The tradition emphasises guru parampara, direct transmission of wisdom from teacher to student, and teaches that your true essence is pure, luminous, and eternal, untouched by past pain or circumstances.
Central to this path is the experience of vishoka, joy beyond all sorrow, accessed through the integrated practice of yoga, meditation, pranayama, mantra, and tantric philosophy.
Nathalie Backman, a devoted student of Pandit Tigunait and certified teacher of the Himalayan Tradition, brings these teachings into contemporary life with authenticity and embodied wisdom. Her approach weaves asana, pranayama, yoga nidra, mantra, and meditation into a holistic practice that addresses the whole person, body, mind, spirit, and life itself.
Nathalie teaches that yoga is not merely physical exercise but a path to remembrance of the Self. She guides students to transform self-limiting beliefs, manage vital energy, and cultivate the inner peace and purpose that the ancient teachings promise. Her work emphasises that healing trauma and pain through awareness, acceptance, and love becomes the foundation for wisdom and compassion that serves others.
